Our first port of call was Copehagen (in Danish: KĂžbenhavn). We had visited Copenhagen a couple of times in the past and were no strangers to the city.

One of the main attractions in Copenhagen, aside from the Tivoli Gardens and Christiania, is the Nyhavn Canal area. We began our exploration there.

Our tour guide for the afternoon was an American citizen now living in Denmark - Copenhagen, to be specific. He is an ex-New Yorker whose real name I'll let you find out yourself as he goes by Hans Christian Andersen and dresses in the appropriate costume on his tours. We first found out about him from a Rick Steves' article Walking with Hans Christian Andersen. Whether or not he still conducts tours by the time you read this is unknown. He posed for us (above left) and with us (below left) for a photo or two.

The photo at left is a famous attraction in Denmark. It features a rotating platform featuring a "Golden Girl" with her bicycle when the weather forecast is good. When there's rain or snow expected, out comes the lady with a dog and an umbrella. If you see both of her at the same time, it will be an overcast day.
