Baltic Cruise - summer of 2011

An explanation of the background photo above. On another trip we took to Finland, we went to see a sand castle park named Hiekkalinna located in Lappeenranta. I just thought it would be interesting to show it on this trip report. (BTW, click on the picture to see its entire image.)

We arrived in Helsinki on the morning of June 4th. Waiting for us to arrive were Liisa, Marja, and Jukka who took us for a ride outside the Helsinki area. But now I'm getting ahead of myself - let's back up and take a look at the Port of Helsinki as we arrived.

After greetings and a little bit of chit-chat, it was decided that we would go to a Fiskar's village which is like a park and Fiskar's merchant place. We toured the area and had lunch there after which we went back to Helsinki and did a little bit of walking near the port. We had to be back on board by 4:00 pm so we didn't have a whole lot of time to spend in Finland.

We then left Fiskar's and drove back to Helsinki. There not being much time remaining until we had to reboard the ship, rest of the afternoon was spent walking around the farmers' market.
