We took a shuttle to Ljubljana from Venice, which was about a two hour ride in a 6-person van, arriving there on September 19th. In Ljubljana we rented a vehicle for a week and drove to Logarska Dolina where we had reserved a room in an agriturismo Govc-Vrsnik Tourist Farm, a B&B-like accommodation - except the rice included dinner! Because we got lost a couple of times on the way, we arrived at about 4:30PM and didn't have much time to do anything beside have dinner and unpack our luggage.
The only photo either of us took during the entire drive from Ljubljana to Logarska Dolina. I believe it was near Luce.
On this trip - and I mean the entire Slovenia and Croatia - we learned the hard way that a GPS is a necessity. We used to be just fine with only a map, but that was in Western and Northern Europe - no, wait - we rented cars in Romania, New Zealand, etc. and had no problems. Maybe we're getting too old.
Anyway, we learned multiple lessons from this trip and now have a GPS with both North America and Europe maps. One other lesson we have learned (not on this trip) concerning GPS's: Make sure the rental car's cigarette lighters work. Twice now we've had to rely on the GPS's own batteries which only last about 45 minutes. Ok, enough of GPS problems. Let's get back to Slovenia.
Our agriturismo provided us with both breakfast and dinner, which included chatting with our fellow guests, so the rest of the evening was spent unpacking an relaxing. Read more about the Govc-Vrsnik Tourist Farm, located in Robanov Kot, Slovenia. (I got a bit confused as our driving instructions implied that Govc-Vrsnik was located in Logarska Dolina.)
On our second day, we had the morning free of plans and we decided to take a walk up the dirt road past the agriturismo.
Later that morning we took a trip just around the area, as recommended by our innkeepers and the maps they provided us.
Next day we decided to take a circular mountain trip that entered into Austria.
Our next place to visit that same day was Lake Bled. There, to our surprise, we found some climbing rock!
